Attorneys Present a Seminar on Employment Law for County Board Members
On April 12, a number of Heyl Royster attorneys put on a seminar that was hosted by the Illinois Association of County Board Members (IACBM) entitled “2017 New Employment Laws Affecting Illinois Employers” in Springfield. Keith Fruehling began the seminar by giving the crowd of county board members an overview of various recent Illinois laws of interest to employers. He also presented on the topic of Upjohn warnings – which relates to when employee communications with corporate counsel qualify as protected attorney-client exchanges. Brian Smith presented on employment retaliation claims. Bruce Bonds and Toney Tomaso gave an update on Workers’ Compensation law. Andy Keyt gave an update on the Prevailing Wage Act, and Emily Perkins spoke on cyber liability. HR consultant Donna Rogers spoke on employer investigations. At the end of the program there was a panel discussion and Q&A with all the speakers. Lunch was provided by Arthur J. Gallagher RMS.
